I was really surprised to learn today that the practice of moving clocks around was only introduced in 1908 even though Edison invented the light bulb in 1879. I was always under the impression that we observed daylight savings in the mid-to-high latitude regions because there was no light in the dark. And so far I have not come across even one reasoning which didn't come from a privileged perspective. In a world where more than half the population was not allowed to vote, someone somewhere choose "not enough daylight for leisure activities" worthy enough problem to get a bill passed. Priorities. Right? Meh. The real magic is natural light anyway.
